I played and loved the Witcher 3 right when it came out. That paragraph doesn’t make much sense, so let me explain. The Witcher 3 New Game + was the most disappointing game I played in 2017. The Witcher 3 is definitely in my top 10 games of all time. The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine was my favorite game of 2016, even though it was just an expansion. The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt was my favorite game of 2015.
For a game that pushed the limits of its genre in so many ways, it is disappointing that its new game plus that was added after launch was just like the majority of bland New Game Pluses released. The Witcher 3’s new game plus is lazy and uninspired.
While I may have changed the title if I wrote the article in 2020, my opinions have mostly stayed the same. Upon reflection the title and the image were a little clickbaity for my taste, but given the article was by far my most read and controversial article (at least judging by the comments) I ever wrote, I left both as originally published.
